A Look Back: Aug. 14

   1948: The first U.S. Junior Amateur Championship finishes with Dean Lind defeating Ken Venturi 4 and 2 at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.
   1977: In the first playoff in PGA Championship history, Lanny Wadkins pars the third extra hole to defeat Gene Littler at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
   1983: Wayne Levi captures the Buick Open by a shot over Calvin Peete and Japanšs Isao Aoki.
   1988: With a 12-under 272, Jeff Sluman wins the PGA Championship at Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla. Sluman wins by three strokes over Paul Azinger.
   1994: Nick Price blisters the field at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club, winning by six strokes over Corey Pavin. The win is Pricešs second PGA Championship title and comes a month after winning the British Open.
