1968: European Tour member Tom Gillis is born in Indian Wood, Mich.

1972: Jim Colbert claims the Greater Milwaukee Open trophy by one shot over Buddy Allin, Chuck Courtney, George Johnson, and Grier Jones.

1978: JoAnne Carner beats Betsy King and Pat Bradley at the Borden Classic.

1989: Betsy King wins her first U.S. Women's Open title by four shots over Nancy Lopez.

1995: Annika Sorenstam earns her first major title with a win at the U.S. Women's Open at Broadmoor Golf Club's East Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.
