LPGA Headed In Right Direction?

The LPGA Tour recently held a three-day players' summit, in which the LPGA established goals for increased TV viewership and tournament attendance as part of a five-year marketing plan.

In addition, the LPGA wants to become more fan-friendly.

What are the LPGA's main issues? How should it go about addressing those issues? And is the LPGA Tour being realistic in thinking it can raise TV viewership by 10 percent each year and increase tournament attendance by 15 percent each year?

Let us know what you think and send your responses to stuart@gpagolf.com with the subject line RE: LPGA. Also include your first name and last initial.

Last week Reader's Forum asked: Is Tiger Woods as dominant a player as he was two years ago or has his game already peaked at age 26?

M. Frost responsed: "Personally, I believe Tiger has shown the other players on the Tour the benefits of physical conditioning. Physical conditioning is now a "must" if the other players are going to consistently compete with someone who is in excellent physical shape.

"I've read in the past that in the "good 'ol days," the boys used to hit the 19th hole for a few "hits" at the end of a PGA round while Ben Hogan, a tour newcomer, always headed for the practice range to work on solving the problems he had just encountered during the day's round. The "good 'ol boys" made fun of him until he started winning all of the tournaments. Then they started hitting the range rather than the bar after a day's round.

"As with Hogan, Tiger has introduced a new aspect to the game and has thus taken all players to a new level."
