Ginger Gilliam Komar/Cathleen Decker MIAMI (January 31, 2002) -- Residents and vacationing guests aboard The World of ResidenSea, the first ever resort community at sea continuously circumnavigating the globe, will have the opportunity to participate in some of the world's most exciting events, through World Events programs created by international travel specialists Abercrombie & Kent. The first three of these optional programs made possible by Abercrombie & Kent's "insider access" capabilities are The Cannes Film Festival, The Monaco Grand Prix and The British Open. The programs are available exclusively to The World's residents and guests. "These are not spectator programs, but real opportunities to participate in the action as it unfolds," said Nils Rykken, vice president, product experience for ResidenSea Ltd. "Imagine the thrill of walking down the red carpet at Cannes or sipping champagne while enjoying a sweeping view of Monaco's Grand Prix from a luxurious private apartment. Now, residents and guests of The World will be among the very few afforded the chance to enjoy these tremendous experiences." Abercrombie & Kent's World Events and their correlating voyages aboard The World are as follows: * The Cannes Film Festival -- May 22-23, 2002 ResidenSea guests will be invited to a walk down the famous red carpet along with stars, producers and directors, and then it's off to the hospitality area to celebrate until the wee hours. The cost is $1,025 per person per evening. The correlating 9-night voyage aboard The World (no. 5211) begins in Venice on May 15, sojourning in Taormina for two days before calling in Cannes May 22-24. Prices per person begin at $8,495. * The Monaco Grand Prix -- May 25-26, 2002 This two-day program surrounding the Monaco Grand Prix includes lunch, afternoon tea and unlimited champagne in an elegant apartment overlooking the circuit, a behind-the-scenes tour of the famous Formula One race and an opportunity to visit "the pit." An optional day of racing real Formula One cars is also available, including professional instruction, transfers and hospitality. The cost for the two-day Grand Prix program is an additional $5,400 per person; the extra day of racing is $2,200 per person. The correlating 14-night voyage aboard The World (no. 5212) sails from Cannes (after the Film Festival) to Valletta on May 24 through June 7 and calls in Monte Carlo in time to catch the Grand Prix, St. Tropez, Portofino, Portovenere, Livorno, Sorrento, Capri and Siracusa.
