Lana Manning PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (December 3, 2001) -- Members of the SENIOR PGA TOUR Tournament Association (STTA) have inaugurated a new and prestigious award in honor of their longtime friend and associate, Brian "Bruno" Henning. Appropriately named the "Bruno Award", the honor will be presented annually to an individual judged to have made special contributions to the SENIOR PGA TOUR. Henning was a true pioneer of the SENIOR TOUR efficiently handling many details, large and small, from 1981 to 2001. In the early years, Brian secured courses for individual events, matched sponsors with those venues and conducted the competitions, and was eventually named Vice President of Competitons. To recognize the impact Henning had on the success of the SENIOR TOUR, the inaugural Bruno Award was presented to him today at the STTA Annual Meeting. Mark Kizziar, Chairman of the STTA Board of Directors, stated, "Never again will any one individual have the opportunity to make such a significant contribution to the SENIOR PGA TOUR. The STTA is very pleased to establish this award and especially proud to have Brian "Bruno" Henning as our first recipient." In the future, nominees for the award will be solicited from the SENIOR PGA TOUR, STTA tournaments, sponsors, players and media. One representative from each of these organizations will be named to a panel to determine each year's recipient. A permanent bronze statuette and plaque identifying each year's winner will be on public display. The site will be announced at a later date. Annual recipients will receive replicas of the permanent award and have $5,000 donated to a charity or charities of their choice.
