PORTLAND, Ore. (April 15, 2003) -- The purse for the JELD-WEN Tradition has increased to $2.2 million from $2 million. The purse is among the top five on the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour (formerly Senior PGA Tour), with a first prize of $330,000.

The JELD-WEN Tradition will be held August 25-31, 2003 at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club in Aloha, Ore. The tournament marks the first time an official money TOUR event has been played in Portland since the 1982 U.S. Senior Open.

The JELD-WEN Tradition is the last of five majors on the Champions Tour schedule. The Golf Channel will broadcast live all four rounds of the tournament, August 28-31, 6-9 p.m. EDT.

The Tradition was founded by real estate developer Lyle Anderson in 1989 and had previously played in Scottsdale, Ariz. Jack Nicklaus is a four-time winner of the Lyle Anderson trophy. Defending champion is Jim Thorpe.

JELD-WEN, inc. (sic), one of the world's leading manufacturers of reliable and energy efficient windows and doors, entered into a four-year agreement (2003-2006) with the Champions Tour to sponsor The JELD-WEN Tradition.
