JELD-WEN Tradition Seeks More Than 1,000 Volunteers Contact Terri L. Wheeler PORTLAND, Ore. (July 23, 2003) - The JELD-WEN Tradition tournament staff is seeking more than 1,000 volunteers to help with many aspects of running the week-long event. All volunteers will be organized on "committees" and will be asked to work at least three shifts (4-6 hours per shift). Assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals can volunteer for the following committees: admissions/will call, grounds, hospitality, leaderboards, marshals, scorecard runner, transportation, volunteer headquarters and walking scorer. The JELD-WEN Tradition, the final major on the Champions Tour, will be played August 25-31, 2003 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore. The tournament marks the first time an official money PGA TOUR event has been played in Portland since 1982. "Volunteers are a key aspect for tournament success and there are many types of positions available," said Danielle Hunt, JELD-WEN Tradition volunteer coordinator. "By volunteering, individuals share the excitement of being part of a major golf event." To ensure that the JELD-WEN Tradition achieves its goals for charitable contribution, volunteers are required to purchase a Volunteer Package for $80. The package includes two golf shirts, a windshirt, a hat, a credential for the week-long tournament, food and beverage on the days worked and an invitation to the volunteer party following play on Sunday. To apply to become a JELD-WEN Tradition volunteer or for a list of committee descriptions, visit the JELD-WEN Tradition's website at www.jeld-wentradition.com or contact Danielle Hunt at 503.672.8153.
