New Williamsburg Tournament to Rank Among Top Events on LPGA Tour

(April 9, 2002) -- The Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill, the LPGA Tour event debuting next year at Kingsmill Resort's River Course, announced today the tournament will be held April 28 - May 4, 2003. The Michelob Light Open will feature a purse of $1.6 million, which ranks the tournament among the top events on the LPGA Tour. The winner will receive $240,000. "We are excited to announce the spring date and purse for the Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill," said Bill Rammes, president, Busch Properties, Inc., and executive tournament chairman, Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill. "Key to Michelob Light's decision to host this event is the ability to rank among the top tournaments on the LPGA Tour, and we anticipate the timing and prize money to attract the best female golfers to compete at Kingsmill." The 2003 Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill will be broadcast live on ESPN Friday, May 2, through Sunday, May 4. The tournament will be played at Kingsmill Resort, owned and operated by Busch Properties, Inc., the real estate subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Companies. The Michelob Family has become one of golf's strongest corporate sponsors with an association that dates back more than 30 years. The brand serves as title sponsor of the 2002 PGA TOUR Michelob Championship at Kingsmill, scheduled Sept. 30 - Oct. 6.
