Toyota/Kraft Nabisco Championship $1 Million Hole-In-One Contest Kicks Off Tournament Festivities Contact Donna Hahn RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (March 12, 2003) - The Toyota/Kraft Nabisco Championship $1 Million Hole-in-One Contest and the United Way of the Desert will be looking for a few good golfers when the ninth annual competition gets underway this Saturday. The hole-in-one contest, set for March 15-24, is expected to draw hundreds of amateur golfers hoping to win a $1 million prize by making a hole-in-one. This year, a new 2003 Toyota Highlander will also be awarded to one lucky amateur who shoots closest to the pin during the finals competition. Amateurs can test their skill while helping one of the desert's most vital non-profit organizations starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15. The contest will be held at two locations, College Golf Center in Palm Desert, Calif., and Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs, Calif. Golf equipment, airline tickets, gift certificates and other prizes will be awarded each day of the contest to the amateurs shooting closest to the pin (a 90-yard shot). The top four amateurs - two from each location each day - will move on to the semifinals competition, set for 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at College Golf Center. The top ten finalists will then be paired by draw with an LPGA Tour player for the finals on Monday, March 24, to play for the $1 million and Toyota Highlander. The finals will be held at 4 p.m. at the 18th green of the Arnold Palmer Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Prior to the finals, the annual Celebrity Hole-in-One Contest for Charity, in which five celebrities try to raise $200,000 for their favorite charity by acing a hole of their own, will be held. Admission to both the Toyota/Kraft Nabisco $1 Million Hole-in-One Contest finals and the celebrity competition is free. Monday, March 24 - Finals, Celebrity Hole-in-One Contest for Charity One of the biggest winners of the event each year is the United Way of the Desert since a portion of the proceeds from the contest are donated to the charity. In addition, if a hole-in-one is made during the finals, the United Way of the Desert will receive $100,000.
