GREENSBORO, N.C. (August 12, 2003) - Officials with the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro announced today that the PGA TOUR has given its official endorsement to play the 2003 tournament on Davis Love III's recently completed redesign at Forest Oaks Country Club.

"I am very pleased and excited that Forest Oaks Country Club will be hosting the 2003 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro," Love said today. "Everyone involved with this project has stayed positive, worked hard and gotten the job done."

"We have felt very confident that Davis' renovation of Forest Oaks would be completed in time for this year's event," Tournament General Chairman Judy Revels added. "Today's official announcement simply confirms our plans and allows us to focus on Forest Oaks as we finalize preparations for our historic debut in the fall."

The Greensboro Jaycees and Forest Oaks Country Club hired Love Golf Design in July of 2002 to redesign the tournament's host course. Construction began in mid-November and was completed in June.

"We've obviously had our challenges with the wet weather over the past eight months," Tournament Director Mark Brazil said. "Completing Forest Oaks and having it ready to host a PGA TOUR event is a true testament to the hard work and incredible talents of Love Golf Design, Superintendent Dan Winters and his staff at Forest Oaks and the many other groups that have contributed to this process. Above all, we would like to thank the membership of Forest Oaks for their sacrifice in allowing Davis and his group to build a beautiful new home for the Chrysler Classic."

Love returned a more traditional look and design style to the greens of Forest Oaks, while adding overall length and improved strategy.

"I am excited about the way the golf course has turned out," Love said. "I believe the course will provide a good test for the tournament in October, but more importantly, it will be a fun place for the members and guests to play the other 51 weeks of the year."

The all-new Chrysler Classic will tee off October 13-19. In addition to its new name and newly redesigned course, this year's edition will also feature a record $4.5 million purse. Over the past 65 years, the Chrysler Classic has generated more than $19 million for statewide and community projects, leadership development initiatives and worthwhile charitable organizations.
