The winners-only field, which includes nine of the top 11 players in the
World Golf Rankings, will again compete for the $1.060 million winner's
share of the $5.3 million purse as well as the traditional Tiffany Trophy in
the Mercedes Championships at Kapalua's Plantation Course, January
3-9.
Louisville Golf introduces the new STIMP putter that utilizes three pairs of weights the golfer adjusts in the head to match green speeds based on the Stimp measurement system. American Leisure Corporation of New City, NY, and Greenwich Golf Group of Greenwich, CT, announce the formation of a strategic partnership that will bridge the gap between the golf and wellness industries. With the conclusion of the 2004 season, Fred Couples, Steve Flesch and Bruce Lietzke, all of whom own and practice on high-performance SofTrak Synthetic Putting Greens, recorded successful seasons spurred on largely by their short-game expertise. One of the English Golf Union's (EGU) responsibilities is to look for ways to attract more people into the game and clearly one of the avenues to achieve this is through municipal courses and their associated clubs. This was the general conclusion from a two-day Municipal Golf Seminar held at EGU headquarters in Woodhall Spa and attended by over 70 delegates from local authorities and golfing bodies. The 2004 Ontario PGA show was a success for all involved, thanks in part to a series of new programs that added even more value to the event experience for attendees. Attendance at the event, held October 27 29, 2004 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, was up 5%. Blackmoor Golf Club, the Grand Strand's only Gary Player signature course, debuted its live web camera at www.blackmoor.com, a shot of the 18th green which refreshes every eight seconds. The Gulf Shores Golf Association, with 10 signature golf courses and 32 miles of sugar-white-sand beaches, announces that a steady increase in rounds played over the past four weeks is indicative that the area's renewal program is succeeding in the wake of Hurricane Ivan which made landfall here in mid-September.
