Justin Leonard Moves To World No. 15 With Victory In The Honda Classic

(March 17, 2003) - On the US PGA Tour this week, Justin Leonard beat Chad Campbell and Davis Love-III by one stroke to win the Honda Classic at Mirasol Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Leonard's eighth PGA Tour victory elevates him 5 positions on the World Ranking to No.15 while Chad Campbell improves 35 spots this week as his second runner-up finish in the space of three weeks moves him into the World Top-100 at No.81. Davis Love remains firmly within the World Top-10 at No.7.

The European Tour International Schedule concluded its Middle-East swing this week as Darren Fichardt beat fellow South-African James Kingston in a play-off to win the Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club. Fichardt, winner of the Sao Paulo Brazilian Open in 2001, improves 78 spots to No.145 on the World Ranking this week while runner-up James Kingston breaks into the World Top-200 at No.172.

With the clean-sweep in Qatar this week, South Africa now has 4 golfers within the World Top-50 and 8 within the World Top-200. During week 11 of the 2001 season, South Africa had 2 golfers in the Top-50 and 5 in the Top-200.
