BEAVERTON, Ore. (March 13, 2003) - Aiming to make her professional career as successful as her record-setting collegiate run, rookie Lorena Ochoa kicks off her first complete LPGA season starting today in her college home town of Tucson, Arizona.

Ochoa has been working with the Nike Golf product teams since joining Nike's Tour Staff earlier this year to ensure her ball and footwear selections give her optimal performance this week at the Welch's/Fry's Championship and throughout the long season ahead.

Preferring a ball with less spin and more distance and control off the tee, Ochoa will play the new TA2 LNG ball. Of Nike Golf's Tour Staff playing the TA2, about 50 percent tee up the TA2 LNG compared to its lower trajectory, higher spin counterpart, the TA2 SPN.

The Guadalajara, Mexico, native will walk her first LPGA season in footwear selections from the Verdana collection, Nike Golf's first line designed specifically for women and one gaining rave reviews and wear on the Tour. Ochoa will alternate wearing the Verdana Bal Wing and Blucher Saddle.

"The performance of Nike footwear has always been far superior to anything else I've ever worn, either on the golf course or running or for anything athletic I do," said Ochoa, a multi-sport athlete who excels in rock-climbing, half-marathons, tennis and basketball. "On the golf course, I'm looking forward to the mix of performance, style and comfort that only Nike Golf has mastered. It's a great way to step out for my rookie season."

As one of the LPGA's most talented young stars to watch, Nike Golf looks forward to the excitement and freshness Lorena will bring to the game, as well as the continual feedback it gain from her to help broaden their reach to other women and young people who love the game of golf.
