SPRINGS, TEXAS (January 20, 2002) -- Ray Cook Golf, Inc. will unveil its 2002
line of products at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, it was announced today
by Jack Lynch, Chairman/CEO of Ray Cook Golf, Inc. Its flagship product is the
all-new M1-A mallet, which anchors the new AUSTIN Series of putters. All AUSTIN
putters feature Ray Cook's proprietary StepFlare' shaft and innovative assembly
methodology. This new product offering represents the top of the Ray Cook product
line, and is supported by three other series of putters at different price points
-- Blue Goose, Billy Baroo and Classic Plus. All of these have been refined or
completely re-engineered for 2002.
According to Lynch, each of the AUSTIN Series of putters provides an unprecedented
level of feel and responsiveness, both during the stroke and at impact. The line
is anchored by the newest rendition of the classic Ray Cook forged aluminum mallet,
the M1-A. The mallet is joined by three blade designs, including a face-balanced
offering. "With
the Austin Series, Ray Cook Golf has recaptured the soft classic feel of yesterday's
putters using the shafts, materials and assembly methods of today's modern technology.
One trial putt with a new Austin putter will tell any golfer this is a revolutionary
product" explains Barry Simpter, Director of Sales.
The key to the AUSTIN Series putters is its proprietary StepFlare shaft and a
device the company calls "The Secret Weapon", which facilitates the unique pneumatic
assembly process. This precisely machined brass fitting acts as a unifier of the
shaft and head, and allows a 'zero-tolerance' metal-to-metal fit in every putter.
John Hatfield, Ray Cook's Director of Manufacturing/R&D contrasted this unique
assembly process to all other putters, where the crucial shaft-to-head connection
can be compromised by an amount of epoxy adhesive. "The
AUSTIN putters are built totally unlike any others on the market," explained Hatfield.
"The 'Secret Weapon' and our pneumatic assembly process create the closest fit
of head to shaft. And the benefit of that is a very pure, unified feel."
Ray Cook Golf, Inc. manufactures and markets the world-renowned line of Ray Cook
putters, a brand that enjoys a 40-year legacy of success in the putter business
and a competitive record of over 200 tour victories, including all the majors.
The company, along with its subsidiary, Reid Lockhart, is headquartered in Dripping
Springs, Texas. Download

Quotes: "The
illustrious Ray Cook Golf legacy began with the introduction of our first mallet
in 1963. We intend to continue our track record of offering classic designs combined
with innovative technology. The AUSTIN Series, particularly the M1-A mallet, illustrates
Ray Cook is committed to developing the most diverse line of high quality putters
in golf."

-- Barry Simpter, Director of Sales "A
key to the AUSTIN putters is our proprietary StepFlare shaft. It was designed
to be heavier and have more flex than typical putter shafts. This ensures proper
feel throughout the stroke and natural dampening of the sensation of impact. The
unique geometry at the tip allows our unique 'force-fit' assembly process that
unifies the head and shaft as if they were one."
-- John Hatfield, Director of Manufacturing/R&D "The
AUSTIN putters are built totally unlike any others on the market. One of the keys
was the development of "The Secret Weapon," a precisely machined brass fitting
that is threaded into the head of the mallet and the top of the hosel of the blade
models. Each putter is assembled with our unique pneumatic assembly process, which
guarantees the closest fit of head to shaft. And the benefit of that is a very
pure, unified feel."
