JEFFERSONVILLE, Pa. (April 1, 2002) -- Jeffersonville GC, the recently reconstructed Donald Ross-designed golf course, announced the securing of Steve Spross as head golf professional.

Spross, a native of Philadelphia, has seen his golf career take him from the Keystone State to the Sunshine State and back. After attending Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, Spross went on to graduate from Temple University with a degree in business.

Spross' golf career began in Florida where he held the position of assistant and teaching professional at Grand Cypress Resort from 1994-1997. He then moved on to Orange County National Golf Center, Orlando, in 1998 after achieving his PGA Class A status.

After working for a golf Internet firm, Spross came back to his home state to join Jeffersonville GC in April 2001 as a golf professional. He was at Jeffersonville throughout most of the reconstruction, which was done by renowned architect and Donald Ross expert Ron Prichard.

"The opportunity to be part of a project like the reconstruction of Jeffersonville GC is exciting," said the 42-year-old Spross. "I'm looking forward to the challenge. The course speaks for itself. Now it is my job to get the word out about it, re-introduce people to Jeffersonville and help them to enjoy the changes we've made."

A total of $3 million was spent on the project, which included installing a state-of-the-art irrigation system, building all new tees and four new greens, restoring the 75 original Ross bunkers and creating 11 new ones, lengthening the par-70 course to 6,443 yards, constructing asphalt cart paths throughout and adding a modern driving range.

Spross resides in Lansdale, PA with his wife, Mary, and their three children. For tee times or outing information contact Spross at 610-539-0422.
