Transcontinental Media Acquires Golf International Magazine

MONTREAL, Canada (November 8, 2001) -- Transcontinental Media, Transcontinental Group's publishing and distribution subsidiary, announced today that it has acquired the magazine Golf International, which celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2001, and its accompanying Annuaire des clubs de golf du Québec (Golf Clubs of Quebec Directory). Published 6 times a year and with a circulation of over 40,000, Golf International is a prestigious French-language magazine that adds itself to Transcontinental Media's well-established portfolio of golf-related publications that already includes the periodicals Golf and Golf Les Affaires.

Jacques Landry, until now publisher of the Golf International, joins the Transcontinental team as manager of golf publications at Transcontinental Weeklies.

The fourth largest print media group in Canada, with annual revenues of $400 million and over 2000 employees, Transcontinental Media publishes 51 magazines and periodicals, 69 weekly newspapers, and Métro, a daily that runs Monday thru Friday. This subsidiary of Transcontinental Group is the leading publisher of consumer magazines in Canada. It is also the number one publisher of weekly newspapers in Quebec and number two in Canada. Through its well-known Publi-Sac (Ad-Bag) Transcontinental Media is also the top door-to-door distributor of advertising material in Quebec.
