(August 20, 2003) - Pellucid and Edgehill have completed an additional 4 Golf Local Market Analyses (GLMA) for an investing entity screening facilities on both the west and east coast. The GLMA is a quick and inexpensive multi-dimensional evaluation of a given market (defined as either a metropolitan area or the draw area of a potential acquisition facility) that helps clients screen potential areas to determine which should be given more consideration and a more in depth analysis.

The GLMA is a Pellucid-developed, golf-specific web-based tool utilizing SRC's demographic facts and Geographic Information System (GIS) platform populated with Pellucid's proprietary golf consumer facts and reports. Estimates of the incidence level, number of golfers and demographic skews are calculated for any location and "draw area" in the 48 states. The GLMA is also imbedded with facility information for any location and its "draw area" including holes of supply by Pellucid facility types and annual rounds demand as well as mapping existing supply by facility type providing a quick view of the competitive landscape.

Using the GLMA as a screening tool, Pellucid also offers a Customer Franchise Analysis (CFA) which can be used on those facilities meeting the screening criteria to better understand the existing customer base for potential acquisitions. Key business issues addressed by the GLMA/CFA combination are:

  • What are the consumer fundamentals and supply/demand measures for our "draw area"?
  • How is our facility performing on rounds demand vs. our peer group in our "draw area"?
  • How many of our customers were retained/lost/acquired over the past year, what was their revenue value?
  • Are we retaining and increasing the spending levels of our most valuable customers?

Pellucid, in conjunction with Edgehill Consulting, has now completed GLMA applications in over 10 markets across the US including both metropolitan and rural locations. Attendees to the upcoming Crittenden Golf Expo in Nashville can see demonstrations of both products at Pellucid's booth in the trade show on September 23rd and 24th.
