Reader's Forum Question: Do you plan to increase, decrease or keep the same the amount of instruction you pay for in 2004? What instructor do you go to or can you recommend, and what course or school does he or she teach at? Your Responses: I am 54 with a single digit handicap. I have paid for 2 lessons in my life, and one lesson was not worth a cent. I feel that most teachers want you to swing like they swing anyway, so I have no plans to get any personal swing instructions this year. Most likely, I will re-read the Hogan book - 5 Lessons, the Modern Fundamentals of Golf. If I was to spend money to improve my game, I would probably see someone who would help me think better as I play. I think improving how the golf brain thinks is more important for most golfers to address than adding more thoughts about how to swing the club. G. Pryor I will take the same amount of instruction. Usually I start out the season with 2 to 3 refresher lessons. During the season I see my instructor about once a month to make sure my swing is still in tact. I recommend Chris Lovrine at Britton Golf Course in Fishers, Ind. She has a keen eye for the swing and treats each student as an individual. She works with what the student gives her and doesn't try to make them do things that are unnatural for them. She is very much a student oriented teacher, no matter what ability level. S. Snelling
