Reader's Forum Question: Davis Love III earned his fourth PGA Tour victory of the year last week at The International. Can Love win Player of the Year honors without a major victory? Which other players besides Love should be considered for Player of the Year? Your Responses: Obviously, the Player of the Year (PY) will be one of the following - Weir, Love, Woods, Furyk, Els or Perry. Since the election is based on a point total, if the winner of the PGA is Love, Weir, Woods, Furyk or Perry, then that golfer will probably be the PY. If none of the above win the PGA, and Love finishes in the top 10, then he has a good chance to be the PY. I would love to see Love win because of what he has been dealing with in his personal life. When he is tuned, the rest of the field just smells the nitro and burning rubber! K. If Davis Love wins or shows up in the first five, he is a shoo in, provided Tiger doesn't do any better than he has done in the last few tournaments. 'Better' meaning inside the top five. After watching a part of the first round, it appears to me that whomever wins this tournament should definitely be considered for the Player of the Year award! L.
