Question:

At the 2003 Masters last week, Phil Mickelson turned in a third-place performance for the third consecutive year and fourth time overall. Mickelson is considered to be the best player not to have won a major. Do you think this will be Mickelson's year? Which major does he hold the best chance of winning?

Your Responses:

I do not think this will be his year....

His best chance of winning a major has just gone by....

Unless he becomes far more consistant with his accuracy in driving I do not think he can compete on the more difficult and tighter U.S. Open courses and the "deep rough" courses of THE OPEN. I didn't check to see where the PGA is being played this year so maybe there could be a slight possibility there. He still needs to start hitting his drives in play more often (it also seems that his short iron play has suffered recently especially in distance control). Anyway that's my feeling about his chances for 2003!!
