Tournament Promises to Challenge Golfers of All Ages

(July 8, 2002) - Over three consecutive weekends in July and August, the PGA TOUR STOP will sponsor the second-annual First Coast Putting Championship on the World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Course at World Golf Village. Preliminary rounds will be played July 20-21, 27-28 and August 3-4 and a top 32 match play will take place on Saturday, August 10 to determine the winner. The First Coast Putting Championship will provide a unique opportunity for families to compete together. Last year's competitors ranged from fathers and sons, grandparents and grandchildren to friends and colleagues. Entry to the putting tournament is $25 for adults ($10 for juniors ages 12 and under) and includes World Golf Hall of Fame admission, practice round on the putting course, putting clinic at the PGA TOUR Golf Academy, a PGA TOUR STOP cap, golf towel, logo ball and coupons to World Golf Village attractions. Participants will be able to win more than $10,000 in prizes, which include golf trips, equipment, lessons and golf rounds. All 32 finalists will take home a PING putter. Top players in the junior division will have a chance to win a U.S. Kids set of clubs and instruction at the PGA TOUR Golf Academy.
