(October 2, 2001) -- The young guns battle it out from south of the border at Querencia Golf Course, in Los Cabos, Mexico on a brand new Tom Fazio designed golf course. Viewers may want to look for Sergio's father Victor in the gallery rooting him on. Phil even gets in a bit of fishing.

With breathtaking views and a fresh breeze blowing, both players played a solid front 9, both shooting 2 under. The highlight of the match was at the 6th hole, where Mickelson drove the ball way left and off the golf course, but miraculously found the ball and was able to play it back to the fairway. He then got up and down from about 200 yards for par. Obviously he had good practice since he had just won the Buick Open in San Diego where he hit a number of errant drives.

The big question will be settled as to whether Mickelson will be able to keep his Shell win streak going after picking up his first series win in four tries against Fred Couples last year. Celebrating its 17th year, Shell's Wonderful World of Golf was the first made-for-television sports series debuting in1962 and running for nine years. It was re-introduced in 1994 with a partnership between Shell Oil Company and Gaylord Event Television, formerly Jack Nicklaus Productions, which is headed by Terry Jastrow, a seven-time Emmy Award winning producer and executive producer of the series. The series is produced by Jim Walton and directed by John Del Vecchio.
