Sonartec's the #3 Fairway Wood at the British Open Young startup finishes behind behemoths Taylor Made and Callaway Contact Jon Claffey (July 22, 2003) - Sonartec Golf finished 3rd at the British Open for number of fairway woods in play, according to the Darrell Survey. Seventeen Sonartec clubs were used by 15 players at the Open Championship, giving Sonartec their best club count in a major championship. In the overall wood count at the British Open, which includes all drivers and fairway woods, Sonartec Golf finished 4th. According to the company, the benefits provided by the patented Driving CavityTM design are a big reason why so many clubs were in play at the Open Championship. "We are very pleased that we beat our personal best in a major count, which was 14 clubs at this years US Open," said Thane Fisher, Sonartec's PGA Tour representative. "The windy conditions were conducive to our Driving CavityTM technology, which raises the Center of Gravity, making a penetrating ball flight that cuts through the wind." The 3rd place ranking was icing on the cake for a company that is experiencing success on the PGA Tour every week. In the last 12 PGA Tour events, Sonartec has 1 win, 9 Top Five finishes and 14 Top Ten finishes. So far in 2003, 65 PGA Tour players have played 368 Sonartec clubs, ranking Sonartec 5th for fairway woods played this year on the PGA Tour. |
