Black Widow logo(August 6, 2002) - Rack up another "win" for Black Widow cleats by Softspikes on the 2002 PGA Tour.

For the fourth time in three weeks, the winner of a PGA Tour event wore Black Widow cleats. The champion of The International on Sunday also was 13th player to win a PGA Tour event this year while wearing Black Widow cleats by Softspikes. That list includes the winner of the British Open.

Every week on the 2002 PGA Tour, at least 75 percent of those players wearing plastic cleats have worn Black Widow cleats. That certainly was the case at The International, where 76 of the 91 players wearing plastic cleats (84 percent) chose to use Black Widow cleats with Dynamic Cleat Technology (DCT). Also, for the past 16 weeks, at least half of the fields at every PGA Tour event have worn Black Widow cleats.

No other plastic cleat company has "won" a PGA Tour event in 2002.

In addition to Black Widow's strong showing on the PGA Tour, the winner of the U.S. Women's Open wore Black Widow cleats. On the 2002 LPGA campaign, five official events have been won by players wearing Softspikes brand cleats.

Finally, Softspikes brand cleats were worn by at least 75 percent of the fields at the four major events on the 2002 Senior PGA Tour schedule. The winners of two of those events wore Black Widow cleats.

Black Widow cleats with DCT are No. 1 in sales worldwide and are original equipment on FootJoy performance golf shoes. The winner of The International wore FootJoy golf shoes.

Through its innovative displays and packaging, Softspikes encourages all golfers to maximize their performance by checking their cleats every 10 rounds. They just may need a change.
