Black WidowGAITHERSBURG, Md. (August 5, 2003) - Softspikes(R) BlackWidow(TM) won for the fourth consecutive week as the winner and 85% of the plastic field at the Buick Open, in Grand Blanc, MI, chose the No. 1 cleat on the PGA Tour.

With its latest victory, the Black Widow now has captured 14 wins on the PGA Tour 2003, including two major championships, with victories at the U.S. Open and British Open, respectively. Equally impressive, Black Widow's 85% usage by players wearing plastic cleats at the Buick Open marked the eighth time in the past 10 PGA Tour events where Black Widow has surpassed 80% usage.

"PGA Tour usage rates are the true benchmark of a successful golf product, especially when players choose to wear the product rather than being paid to endorse it," said Leo Kahl Director of Marketing, Softspikes, Inc. "To have our usage rate consistently in the 80% range speaks volumes about BlackWidow."

SoftSpikesToday, 99 percent of all shoes made in America are shipped with plastic cleats. Black Widow cleats with DCT are No. 1 in sales worldwide and are original equipment on FootJoy performance golf shoes.

The new entity is known as Pride/Softspikes. Through its innovative displays and packaging, Pride/Softspikes encourages all golfers to maximize their performance by checking their cleats. They just may need a change.
