Winners of PGA, LPGA Events Wear Softspikes

Black Widow cleatsGAITHERSBURG, Md. (May 28, 2002) - Jim Furyk wore Black Widow cleats by Softspikes in winning The Memorial on Sunday.

Laura Diaz also wore Black Widow cleats by Softspikes in winning the LPGA Corning Classic on Sunday.

Furyk's win was the ninth win on the PGA Tour this year for players wearing Black Widow cleats.

Through the MasterCard Colonial, six of the top 10 official money leaders on the PGA Tour had worn Black Widow cleats this season.

The other PGA Tour events won this year by players wearing Black Widow cleats by Softspikes are: The Players Championship, WorldCom Classic, BellSouth Classic, Shell Houston Open, Honda Classic, AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Buick Invitational, and WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Diaz's win was the third win on the LPGA Tour this year for players wearing Black Widow cleats.

Black Widow is the the top-selling cleat in the game and is original equipment on FootJoy performance golf shoes.

In its advertising and various marketing materials, Softspikes is encouraging golfers to maximize their performance by checking their cleats more often. Softspikes recommends that golfers consider changing their cleats after every 10 rounds.
