PHOENIX, Ariz. (August 14, 2003) - PING's newest putter series features a softer feeling, blue insert and a precision milled insert cavity and face, company Chairman and CEO John Solheim announced today.

The PING G2i Series, a family of nine stainless steel models, follows last year's introduction of the G2 putters and continues the company's commitment to engineering high performance golf equipment.

"Improving the performance of our putters is a never-ending process for us," said Solheim. "Look, feel, and weighting all play a key role in the engineering process. We accomplished the weighting and sharp appearance in the G2 putters, so we really focused on the feel in the new series. It's softer than any insert we've ever designed which I believe will provide the feel, touch and control golfers need."

The blue, Polypurfelan insert provides a softer feel and is sized and shaped to provide an optimum striking area. The insert cavity and face are precision milled for consistency. Weight displaced by the insert was redistributed to increase the moment of inertia for added forgiveness. Additionally, the insert's thickness plays an important role in the soft, solid feel of the putters.

"Feel is very hard to quantify. It's a combination of the feedback you get and the sound you hear," Solheim added. "We tested a lot of variations of this material. The reaction to this combination made it the overwhelming favorite."

A bright blue Winn Medallist (Pistol) grip matches the insert color and is standard on all regular length models of the G2i putter. The eye-catching grip is made of Winn's proprietary Excel XF material which provides a soft, smooth feel for control and comfort.

"The early response we've had from tour players and customers has been very favorable. We're excited to get the G2i putter into consumer's hands."

Golfers can choose one of nine G2i putters: Anser, Anser B (mid-length), Anser C, Zing, My Day, B60, Piper, C67 (center shafted) and C10 (Long putter). Custom fitting options are available in all models.

Worldwide shipments began August 1. Suggested retail price for the standard length putters is $130.00. The G2i C10 and Anser B (long putters with double grips) are $155.
