BEAVERTON, Ore. (April 15, 2003) - Nike Golf first introduced its proprietary Super Flex Core technology with the Power Distance Super Soft in November 2002. The result has been a wildly popular, low-compression distance ball.

The first application of the Super Flex Core technology from lead engineer Rock Ishii was so successful and so well received that Nike Golf has redesigned the entire Power Distance line incorporating the new core in each of three balls - the Super Far, the Super Fly, and the Super Soft - to create the Power Distance Super Series.

The new Power Distance Super Series will hit retail on May 1, 2003. Each dozen will carry a Suggested Retail Price of $20 and will be available at golf shops nationwide.

What is the Super Flex Core technology?

The Super Flex Core is a solid polybutadiene center with an instantaneous snap flex response. The core snaps back to shape so fast and with such voracity after impact that it creates an explosive initial velocity off the clubface. The intensity of the Super Flex Core has allowed Nike Golf to reduce ball compression while simultaneously increasing distance. The result is low compression golf balls that not only feel better but also reduce spin rates off the driver, optimizing trajectories and minimizing sidespin for longer, more accurate shots.

The Power Distance Super Series

By varying the compression and dimple pattern of each ball in the Super Series, Nike Golf has created three distinct performance golf balls that satisfy the varying preferences of golfers and address the varying conditions of golf courses.

Power Distance Super Far
Core: Super Flex Core
Compression: 75
Dimple Pattern: 432
Golfer preference: Faster velocity, longer distance

Power Distance Super Fly
Core: Super Flex Core
Compression: 70
Dimple Pattern:420
Golfer preference: More carry, longer distance

Power Distance Super Soft
Core: Super Flex Core
Compression: 65
Dimple Pattern: 432
Golfer preference: Softer feel, longer distance
