GASTONIA, N.C. (August 5, 2003) - AccuFLEX Golf (www.accuflexgolf.com) announced the official launch of its new 45-Gram ICON Lite high performance shaft today. The ICON Lite is made exclusively of AccuFLEX Golf's proprietary A2 advanced design composite and will function as a radical alternative to its PGA and Nationwide Tour-winning 80-gram ICON shaft. AccuFLEX officials expect that the ICON Lite will revolutionize the performance capabilities of a sub-50 gram shaft in the same way that its ASSASSIN series shafts, for which A2 was developed, became the first and only Long Drive shafts over 55" in length that weighed less than 100 grams and were truly stiff and durable enough for the world's elite Long Drive professionals. To date, very few PGA Tour players have had enough confidence that a 45-gram shaft can stand up to the performance demands of the world's best golfers. Based on preliminary testing by its staff professionals, AccuFLEX Golf is convinced that its ICON Lite will provide a viable option for Touring Pros and low to mid handicapped golfers looking for a light-weight shaft alternative. The ICON Lite has already been put in play on the Nationwide Tour.

"We at AccuFLEX are very proud to bring the ICON Lite to PGA Tour professionals," AccuFLEX Golf's Steve Zunich began. "Our reputation to date has been that our shafts are built for the super long hitters on Tour, like Todd Barranger, who hit the longest drive (408 yards) on any PGA Tour in 2002 with our ICON shaft, or like current Nationwide Tour Driving Distance leader Victor Schwamkrug, who alternates between the ICON and our Assassin 2 50" Long Drive shaft. However, with the success our 72-gram ICON v.2 shaft has had on the Champions Tour in the drivers of the winner of the 2003 Senior British Open, among others, we think it is becoming apparent that AccuFLEX Golf can and does make shafts that work exceedingly well for every type of elite touring professional. The ICON Lite will surely add to that growing awareness. While this 45-gram shaft will probably not be the choice of a Victor Schwamkrug, we think that the distance enhancing features of a shaft which is that light and still can offer the accuracy and performance of a much heavier shaft will attract a lot of tour players looking to close the driving distance gap between themselves and the super long ball hitters out there. We expect that the new ICON Lite shafts will be put in play by more and more of the PGA Tours' best players, especially those looking for pure distance in a golf shaft."

"Our philosophy from day one has always been that we will do whatever it takes to make shafts to fill a specific performance need," AccuFLEX president Jody Baucom stated. "The problem with most 40-50 gram shafts to date has been that they just don't 'recover' properly. What makes our shafts so popular with the world's best players is that they recover like no other shafts made. We achieve this by incorporating our unique and proprietary manufacturing processes in combination with utilizing whatever materials might be necessary to get the job done. It took several runs at the ICON Lite to get it just right, but by incorporating A2 into this new shaft, our design, engineering and production teams have absolutely 'nailed it'. The ICON Lite will revolutionize the light-weight, high performance golf shaft."

"We are especially excited by the introduction of the ICON Lite because this shaft will be much more appealing to the average golfer than its super-stiff, 80-gram counterpart, the ICON," Zunich concluded. "The more user friendly specifications of the ICON Lite clearly make that apparent. We would like to point out to the better players out there, however, not to worry about the 4.0 torque listing. The superior recovery properties of our shafts almost render torque a meaningless statistic and, in fact, the higher torque becomes a positive in terms of feel and distance. With the introduction of the ICON Lite, we really think we have created the most responsive, longest and most durable light weight shaft ever made."
