HOUSTON (October 4, 2002) - Originally built during the "Golden Era" of golf course design, The Golf Club at Westwood has retained architect Keith Foster to redesign, Landscapes Unlimited to construct and ES Partners to manage the existing course's rebirth, all while maintaining its rich heritage. With construction scheduled to be completed by November 2003, the course promises a simple, clean and classic design surrounded by 160 acres of natural, heavily vegetated, unblemished parkland, just minutes from downtown and the Galleria.

"We have assembled a top-notch team for the renovation, and our members will reap the benefits of their vast experience in the industry," said Scott Olsen, head pro at The Golf Club at Westwood.

The New Players

Foster is one of the most talented architects of his time. He brings renovation experience from Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth and Southern Hills in Tulsa -- the site of the 2001 US Open -- to create a private setting with an "Eden-like environment." No stranger to Texas, two of Foster's more recognized original designs are The Tradition Course at Cypresswood in Houston and The Quarry in San Antonio.

ES Partners (www.espartners.biz) specializes in golf and real estate project management, asset management and advisory services. Lead by industry veteran Elmer Stephens, the company has considerable consulting experience in the feasibility of proposed projects, enhancement of current operations, assessment of properties for disposition, and turnaround of underperforming assets -- all of which have enabled ES Partners to earn a proven track record of developing and managing golf properties.

Landscapes Unlimited's (www.landscapesunlimited.com) vast golf course construction experience has earned the firm several industry awards. With more than 375 courses under its belt, including major renovations, the company is well-suited to help breathe new life into The Golf Club at Westwood.

About the Renovation . . . A Tradition Reborn

The Golf Club at Westwood will undergo a complete renovation. Eighteen strategically redesigned green sites with sculpted approaches will blend in with the course's natural surroundings to create an intimate setting. The course will feature conventional square tees and handcrafted bunkers, both reminiscent of early 20th century designs. A signature element will be a 20-foot wide barranca that meanders through the center of the property. Holes will play to and over the barranca -- offering a 16-foot elevation change and making the course more dynamic and dramatic.

The renovation also encompasses a state-of-the-art irrigation system and pristine, modern turf grasses. The practice center will be reoriented and greatly enlarged with an oversized hitting area, separate short game facility and expansive putting green. Carefully defined wetlands and lakes will grace the fairways throughout the course. This core golf club has a strong variety of holes, uninterrupted by homesites, tennis or swimming.

An exclusive private club, The Golf Club at Westwood is now accepting membership applications.
