South Beach Marriott and Arthur Hills' designed Miami Beach Golf Club Team-up to Deliver a Complete Destination Package Contact Media Relations Department MIAMI (March 20, 2003) - "There has been a need for an upscale public resort golf course in the Miami Beach area for a long time. We are thrilled to now offer our guests a world class course within minutes of our hotel", said Kimberly Wilson, General Manager, South Beach Marriott. The South Beach Marriott, a 236 room hotel located on the beach is pleased to announce the alliance with the recently opened Arthur Hills designed championship 18 hole Miami Beach Golf Club. The course, which is located less then 400 yards from the white sandy beaches of South Beach, boasts very unique design features. The pivotal closing four holes require golfers to think about several strategic angles before selecting a club and making their next shot. The par- 4, 328 - yard 16th hole is a classic example of risk vs. reward strategy where the golfer can select anything from a driver to 7 - iron from the tee. The golfer is then faced with a second shot to a relatively small, sloping green which is well guarded by bunkers in front and to the left and by water on the right. Steve Forrest, Arthur Hills' partner of 25 years, said, "We like to incorporate a lot of variety into our designs, and I really felt like we achieved this at Miami Beach Golf Club. Every hole sets up a new challenge and I think that golfers will have many lasting memories of their round." The completion of the golf course could not have come at a better time. The resort business nationwide is competing for a limited number of vacationers. Jorge Gonzalez, Miami Beach City Manager, said "We are experiencing a real tourist resurgence and population boom in the Miami Beach area. The new Miami Beach Golf Club presents a one of a kind golfing experience for residents and tourists alike. The City and the Club are extremely pleased to have business partners like the South Beach Marriott and we know that the course will serve as another first rate amenity for their hotel".
