WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 28, 2002) - The Wake Forest women's golf team signed three recruits for the 2002-03 season. Julie McKenna of Newbury Park, CA, Tarah Schloss of Bloomsburg, PA and Joy Juskowich of Morgantown, WV will make up the 2002-03 Demon Deacon class.

McKenna will graduate from Newbury Park High School with a 4.166 GPA, where she was the Marmonte League MVP 1998, '99 and '00. She was the 2000 All-Ventura County Player of the Year and Santa Yienz Invitational Champion '99, '00 and '01. As a member of the Southern California Professional Golf Association, McKenna compiled nine top five finishes and participated in the Girl's America's Team to play for Southern California.

"Julie is one of the top players in Southern California. She has a strong long game and has beaten top recruits in this class at last year's America Cup," said Wake Forest head coach Dianne Dailey.

Schloss attended Bloomsburg High where she held the No. 1 spot on the boy's team with a stroke average of 78 from men's tees that are an average of 6,000 yards. After turning out a second place finish at the Junior Tour Tournament of Champions, Schloss achieved All-America status. She also finished third in the PGA Junior Series.

"Tarah hits the ball a long way," said Dailey. "She is a very strong player and showed great composure, patience and determination when she played last year in the USGA Juniors without a practice round and shot a 78 to beat most the field."

Juskowich will walk-on to the 2002-03 squad.

"Joy was peaking in her golf game when she was 13 and 14 but then faced some medical problems and is now back in her old form," said Dailey. "She is an extremely bright student that brings a lot of national tournament experience to the team that will be valuable. She knows how to win."

The Deacons graduated seniors Katie Brenny, Camille Lee and Veronica Prado-Lacoste.
