PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (March 25, 2003) - The Professional Golfers' Association of America and the Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) have announced a joint effort to open 10 new chapters in 2003 and to increase the average size of new chapters to 75 members.

The EWGA chapter membership goals are part of a five-year PGA of America grant program that began in 2001, which to date has resulted in 20 new chapters and more than 1,000 new members. The grant program is one of The PGA's Growth of the Game initiatives.

The first two new chapters of 2003 are Rock River Valley (Rockford, Ill.) and Tri-Cities, Tenn. (Johnson City), with organizational meetings having been conducted in Asheville, N.C., Eugene, Ore., and Wilmington, N.C.

"The Executive Women's Golf Association is one of the golf industry's finest examples of serving a specific niche of customers," said PGA of America President M.G. Orender. "EWGA members not only are avid golf customers on their own, they positively influence corporate golf spending at the companies where they work."

Established in 1991, the EWGA is a not-for-profit organization formed to foster opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy a game, while benefitting their business and personal lives.

"The PGA of America has played a significant role in the dramatic growth of the EWGA's expansion," said EWGA Executive Director Sara Hume. "We've laid a solid foundation with 20 new chapters over the past two years, which reinforces The PGA's Growth of the Game initiatives. We look forward, with The PGA's continuing assistance, to increasing the number of members in each chapter as they are formed nationwide."

Now in its 11th year, the EWGA, based in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has more than 100 chapters and more than 17,000 members in the United States and Canada. The association has established itself as the premier international group of professional women who use golf as a tool for both personal growth and corporate advancement. For information about starting a chapter, or to join the EWGA, contact (561) 691-0096, or online at www.ewga.com.

Through its more than 27,000 men and women PGA Professionals and with the support of a host of allied golf associations and GOLF 20/20, The PGA of America is leading an industry-wide effort designed to grow participation in the game of golf.
