Jamie Roggero-Carbone PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (February 14, 2002) -- The PGA of America, the industry's leader in providing employment services linking golf employers with PGA Professionals, is expanding its services to the golf public through the creation of "National Jobs in Golf Week," to be held March 18-22. The PGA Employment Center, hosted at www.PGA.com, serves as a complimentary clearinghouse for all types of jobs within the golf industry, bringing together PGA Professionals and those who are seeking golf course employment. There are an estimated half million non-PGA Professional golf course service jobs, including positions as starters, rangers, golf shop clerks, food-and beverage preparation and service staff, and golf-course maintenance. There are more than 10,000 PGA-staffed golf facilities across the country. Jobseekers can go to the PGA Employment Center at PGA.com, register and search for available jobs or post a resume with job desired. Meanwhile, PGA Professionals seeking employees can scan the posted resumes and/or advertise positions at their facility. Information on industry employment opportunities ranging from careers to part-time or seasonal work also will be available on PGA.com. "This is a terrific way for The PGA of America to contribute to the game and business of golf by connecting those who wish to play a role in the industry with the PGA Professionals responsible for hiring new staff members," PGA President Jack Connelly said. The PGA Employment Center is one of a number of employment services provided by The PGA of America. The PGA also provides Career Links, a complimentary search service and nine PGA Career Consultants based throughout the country provide support to employers and PGA Professionals. Other employment services include CareerNet, which offers PGA Head Professionals an online way to seek out and hire assistant professionals, teaching professionals and other PGA Professional support staff, and a consultant to help PGA Professionals interpret labor laws and wage-and-hour information. The PGA of America is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1916 to promote golf and enhance the livelihood of its members. The Association is comprised of more than 26,000 PGA Professionals who are dedicated to growing the game of golf.
