Executive Women’s Golf Association Supports LPGA-USGA GIRLS GOLF Funds Raised Support Development and Growth of Game for Girls Contact Debbie Waitkus PHOENIX (July 16, 2003) - The Phoenix - Valley of the Sun Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) presented a donation in the amount of $400 in cash and equipment valued at over $600 to its designated 2003 charity, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental junior golf program for girls ages 7-17 and the only national initiative of its type. Over the past 6 months members of the EWGA Phoenix - Valley of the Sun Chapter raised funds through raffles at monthly golf outings. The Phoenix - Valley of the Sun and the Tucson-Old Pueblo Chapters of the Executive Women's Golf Association collected gently used golf equipment at the annual Desert Dove Tournament, a four-ball, match-play challenge between the Tucson and Phoenix Chapters. LPGA-USGA Girls Golf is administered as a partnership between the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA), encouraging girls to learn to play golf, build friendships and sample competition in a supportive and positive learning environment. Currently, more than 2,400 girls participate at over 95 sites around the country. "We're thrilled to be able to support LPGA-USGA Girls Golf by making this contribution," said Judi Davis, Phoenix Chapter President. "The EWGA shares the common goal of building the future of women's golf and hopes that some of the young ladies learning to play in this program will become our future members." The EWGA is a not-for-profit organization formed to promote and foster a spirit of acceptance, dignity and respect for career-oriented women golfers. Founded in 1991, the EWGA currently has over 100 Chapters and more than 17,000 members in the United States and Canada.
