SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (August 22, 2002) - New research published today in the Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Research on Paradigm Practice and Policy (published by Mary Ann Liebert Inc.) provides further evidence of the powerful effects of QLink technology on the human brain and the QLink pendant's ability to help a golfer reach the stress-free "zone".

The study demonstrated the ability of Sympathetic Resonance Technology (SRT), which is the driving force behind the QLink pendant, to protect normal body and mind functioning in the presence of outside physical, environmental and psychological stressors.  The SRT research supports what more than 250  touring pros have discovered -- QLink's ability to place a golfer in a stress-free state of mind while under incredible pressure.

For the study, an active cell phone was used as a "stressor."  EEG brainwave changes were measured on 24 normal adults while each either sat and rested or performed a task to test how well they could concentrate with a cell phone switched on.

Researchers found that the SRT technology kept brain cell function normal and stress-free when cell phones were on.  There was also a tendency for the QLink SRT to reduce cell phone effects on other types of brain waves.  Subjects exposed to the cell phone stress without the benefit of SRT showed a fall in brain wave frequency over time, especially at the back of the brain.   The study indicated that wearing the QLink reduced the effects of active cell phones (the chosen stressors in this study) on human brain cells.

The study supports the heightened focus and deeper levels of concentration many golf professionals and sports psychologists have experienced with the QLink.

"Golf is a complex activity challenging the body and mind to function at high levels to achieve peak performance," said Gary Wiren, Ph.D. and Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor.  "The work by renowned neuroscientist Dr. Rodney Croft of Australia has shown that QLink's Sympathetic Resonance Technology  can have a positive effect on both the body and mind.  In sports such as  golf, there are many examples which indicate there is a correlation between  this positive effect and improved performance."

The chart below shows the brain wave frequency changes in one area of the brain (the mid parietal region, where complex visuospatial and language function are processed).  The black line is the EEG when there is no mobile phone and no active SRT.  The red line is with the mobile phone on, but no SRT.  The blue line is when the mobile phone is on and with SRT.

The study was conducted by Dr. Rodney Croft, highly acclaimed researcher at the Brain & Behaviour Research Institute at the University of Wollongong, Australia, in collaboration with the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience and Behaviour at Imperial College Medical School, London and the Department of Psychology at Coventry University, England.   This is the first in a series of studies that will be completed in the coming months to provide evidence of the QLink's ability to positively effect human performance.  Previous QLink studies have shown dramatic positive effects  on various systems of the body while under stress.

During a recent three week period, QLink wearers has been victorious in three "Majors" including the British Open, the LPGA U.S. Open and the Ford Senior Players Championship. During the same three-week period three other tour victories have taken place with QLink: the Senior Tour, the LPGA, the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond.   Known victories using the QLink now total 50.
